About Us

Sometime in 1992, leaders from a number of Brethren churches got together to plan for the International Brethren Conference on Missions (IBCM). Approximately 250 brothers and sisters from 22 countries attended the Conference which was held 9 -15 June at Anglo Chinese School.

After the IBCM, it was unanimously felt that the camaraderie that has been forged should continue to be strengthened and so church leaders formed the BNF.

The BNF has three main objectives:

1. To enable the leadership of the participating churches to get to know each other and
to encourage each other in our walk with the Lord

2. To foster and to enhance co-operation in our ministry and service through networking,
    prayer and fellowship; and

3. To highlight and discuss trends and issues which may affect our common life in Christ, and
    our individual and corporate witness

One of the hallmarks of BNF is its informal mode of working. We respect the autonomy of local churches, and decisions are arrived at by consensus. Each participating church is at liberty to take part in a project or not at all. Despite this loose arrangement, we have managed a number of projects in collaboration.

1995 - A one-day Conference for church leaders held at Bethesda Church Bukit Arang
1997 - Conference on Mission & Ministry held at Bethesda Pasir-Ris Mission Church
1997 - Brethren Youth Fellowship Concert held at Bethesda Pasir-Ris Mission Church
1998 - Brethren Kindergarten Fellowship Symposium
1998 - Homiletics Course held at Bethesda (Frankel Estate) Church
1999 - Brethren Youth Fellowship Weekend Retreat
2001 - Festival of Celebration 2001, three days nation-wide Gospel Rally
at Singapore Indoor Stadium with Dr. Bill Newman (Australia)

May the Lord bless the BNF in the coming years as we collectively seek ways of serving Him, the church and the community of which we are a part!
